Reading Log Blog
Please complete reading log blog post by Friday! Happy Reading!
Dear Readers,
Great job commenting on one another's book responses. I loved the way you pushed each other's thinking by asking questions and agreeing and disagreeing. This week I would like you to synthesize a part of the book you just read. Then go back to summarize the earlier parts of the book, using text evidence, that relate to just that part. Use the chart and example below to help you. Example: In chapter 6, Rob went through the school day happily, excited that he was going to be free from school for a while. At lunchtime, he avoided the cafeteria, knowing that Norton and Billy Threemonger would be there. Norton and Billy had been bullying Rob on the bus ride to school every day. The bus driver did nothing, and Rob just took it. That's why Rob didn't want to encounter them in the lunchroom. Rob sat on the bench outside the lunchroom, studying his drawing of the tiger, when suddenly, the cafeteria doors swung open, and Sistine marched out, followed by some rowdy kids. Rob wanted to tell her to run away from the bullying but he was silent. This wasn't the first time Rob had been silent in the face of bullies. And then, Rob watched Sistine turn back into the crowd and begin to fight the bullies. In earlier chapters, Sistine sort of stood up to the bulling, not really letting it bother her. For example on page 9 when Sistine told Billy and Norton her name and where it came from with confidence. But now, she is fighting back!
