This week we have been identifying the mood in a poem and using the mood to help us make interpretations of the poems we read. Read the poem below, written by Shel Silverstein, and identify the mood of the poem using words from the poem to support your thinking. Then, discuss the theme of the poem. What lesson can you learn? What is this poem really about?

YESEES AND NOEES

The Yesees said yes to anything
That anyone suggested.
The Noees said no to everything
Unless it was proven and tested.
So the Yesees all died of much too much
And the Noees all died of fright,
But somehow I think the Thinkforyourselfees
All came out all right.

I think the mood of this poem is to have balance between your yeses and noes or bad things could happen

I think the mood of the poem is to always think before you say or do something. I know this because the yesees died of to much and the noees died of fright, but thinkforyourselfees turned out fine. I think the lesson of the poem is to to balance what you say yes and no to.

In YESEES AND NOEES I noticed that in the poem it said Yesees said yes to anything and everything which might not be a healthy choice. I also noticed that in the poem it said the Noees said no to everything unless it was tested or proven right. But those that could think for themselves didn't take advice from anyone and did what they believed to be true. I think the theme of this poem is to think for yourself no matter what anyone says. I think the mood of this poem is to be open minded.

In the YESEES and NOEES the theme of the poem is to think before you do something. With the YESEES they said yes to everything and so they died. The NOEES died because they never did anything. The think for yourselves lived because they thought about what their going to do before they do it and made sure it was safe. They lived the longest.

in this poem I noticed that the mood is that the person is feeling like everyone is equal and that everyone is a human being that has equal rights
