READ THROUGH THE LENS OF BIG LIFE ISSUES, THEN PUT TOGETHER IDEAS FOR A CENTRAL INTERPRETATION

Readers, tonight, build a central interpretation of your own book. If you are just starting a book, work instead with a book you have already read.
Search your book for big life issues. These may include loss, family struggles, friendship, parental pressure, and/or relationships. Keep searching until you find an important issue relating to the whole book. The issue may relate to many characters in your book. Or the life issue may connect with the beginning, middle, and end of your book. Then use that life issue to start thinking about a central interpretation.
If you get stuck in your thinking, use some prompts from the “Thought Prompts to Help Us Move from Simple to Complex Interpretations” chart.
Take time to figure out a central interpretation. It should fit the entire book (or many parts of it). Write your interpretations

Hey guys! I am reading Charlie and the Chocolate Factory! I think that in each room they will lose a kid. I think that this connects to a part in the story when mMr. Wonka said to keep together and to not get lost. I think these two parts connect because because he said to not get lost and they are losing a kid in each room. I think that he knew that he were going to lose a kid in each room. I think that Charlie will be safe though because if they are going to get lost in the order on how they found the golden ticket, Charlie was last to find one. I think that Mr. Wonka wants one kid to not get lost, and I think that that kid will be Charlie. I can't wait to keep on reading!

Hi! I am reading the trumpet of the swan. I am so close to finishing! I will probably finish tonight! One issue is that Louis can't talk. (he is a swan so I mean he can't make a sound) It is hard to find a way for him to make a sound. His human friend, Sam, took him to school and his teacher taught Louis how to read and write. Uh-Oh! He forgot that most swans can't read! Then....another attempt happened but I am not going to spoil it! I definitely recommend that you read this book! I know all of you would love it!

So, I was reading The Underdogs, and I found a few problems. For one thing, Will never remembers his mom, because she died around when he was born. This was kind of like Rob, but Rob remembers his mom. Also, his Dad busted his knee in college. Now his dad limps a lot, and sometimes it's hard to have a dad who can't run. Also, his best friend had to move because his dad got a job. That happened to me with one of my friends.

Why do you think it's called The Underdogs? Do the problems you talked about give you a clue about the title?

I am reading a book called The Tail of Emily Windsnap. Sometimes in life you can find yourself with huge secrets. For example Emily didn't want her mom to know that she is actually a mermaid. It's also hard for Emily to keep secrets from her friends. During swim class, she doesn't want to show them that she will turn into a mermaid if she touches water. But it's important to remember that secrets can't be kept forever.

I literally just finished Percy Jackson and the Titan's Curse. Percy hase a solid relationship with Anabeth. This makes me think this is why Percy went on the quest. All throughout the book it talks about saving Anabeth after she falls off the cliff.

In my book One Handed Catch a life issue is that Norm only has one hand. In the beginning and middle Norm has to learn how to do everything with one hand, including achieving his dream of playing baseball. In the end it paid off because he learned to do everything and he also pitched a really good game. A life lesson you can learn is that if you work hard at something it pays off in the end.

Hi MS HILDENS class! I'm so close to finishing my book! Only have 8 more pages left! And right now Alex and Ezmia just took there final blast and Alex won by draining Ezmia's powers. Alex didn't even need to use the wond of wonderment to defeat her she just used her words by scaring her and it astonished her that any won would say that to her so thats how she won!

In An Author's Odyssey, Alex is hit by magic dust that makes her lose control! It ends on a scene of the chief war advisor saying "With all due respect, we believe that it's magic..." assessing what happened with Alex.

Hi! This Wills. I am reading Hollow City by Ransom Riggs. One problem that I have noticed in the book is that Jacob misses his family. I think this is a big problem because in the middle of the book he sees something that reminds him of his parents which makes him feel sad. Also in the middle of the book he starts thinking about his dad and this makes him feel sad. I think this is bad problem because it slows the rest of the group down.

I am reading a book called Ranger In Time Long Road to freedom. It is about these kids named Jessie, an 8 year old boy and a girl named Sara who is a 12 year old girl and a dog named Ranger. The story goes back in time to help them get to freedom, they are slaves. Ranger is helping them get from Connecticut to Pennsylvania. Right now I am at the point were Ranger is helping them pass throw New York. They sleep at day and move at night. They sleep in bushes, behind buildings and in farm crops.(I know it's weird).

Story Thieves

Even though Bethany and Owen hate each other they learned that even though you hate or don’t like someone you still have to work together to figure out a solution. The problem was that they were stuck in a book and had to try to get out without the characters following them because the characters will not leave their side. They won’t leave their side because they want to follow them wherever they go because they want to know where they go. Owen and Bethany have to distract the characters but at the same time they had to jump out of the book. So even though they haven’t found the solution yet they have made it very far and are almost there.
